Oysters at Eventide in Portland, ME
Two days wandering around Portland, Maine had me feeling like I had a good pulse on the city and left me wanting to come back for more. Sam and I enjoyed oysters and lobster rolls from various establishments around the city and beyond. The best lobster roll in the area was at Bite into Maine. We went to the location in Fort Williams Park before seeing the Portland Head Light there. Sam and I tried the wasabi lobster roll and the Connecticut style with butter. The wasabi flavored roll was just the right amount of spicy and I compared all other rolls to that until we got to Red’s Eats later in the trip.
The best atmosphere for drinks by the water was at The Porthole. We enjoyed the music, drinks, and general vibe of the place so much that we went back after dinner.
Beyond the good food and drinks, we enjoyed strolling around the piers and the shops in the city. There were multiple great bookshops to meander around.
Some other activities the family enjoyed were a ride on the narrow gauge railway and a trip to the minor league baseball stadium to see the Portland Sea Dogs play.
If you are in the area, definitely make a stop to check out Portland for a couple of days.
