Sunset at Siesta Key, Florida
Escaping the Virginia weather in the winter is always a goal of mine once the temps are consistently in the 30’s. A week long trip to Siesta Key, Florida was a much needed break from the colder temperatures after Christmas last year.
We spent the week reading on the beach, making sandcastles, collecting shells, and eating seafood. Our favorite restaurant for seafood and margaritas was Walt’s Fish Market on Tamiami Trail in Sarasota. We liked it so much we went twice. The kids enjoyed chicken tenders, mac ‘n cheese, and penne with marinara from the kid’s menu. The adults enjoyed the shrimp po’ boy and coconut shrimp from the regular menu, as well as a couple of the specials.
Most nights we tried to make it back down to the beach to enjoy the beautiful sunsets. There was usually a crowd, but we could always get a spot to snap some photos of the brilliant orange and pink sky.
